take off your bib.
so we were in church, and our teaching pastor, rob, was preaching. i like when rob preaches because he is a no-nonsense kinda guy. there is no show, just truth, sometimes blunt, like a bat. that's why i love it. well he hit an area hard that needs to be hit in churches. its the "i'm not being fed" crowd. we have all heard them. complaints that the pastor isn't dishing out what he should to the congregation. well rob's response was, "if you're not being fed, take off your bib and put on an apron." oh snap!!!
what a sneaky sneaky church
so we got a phone call earlier this week from a couple at our church, brian and suzanne, who have been teaching us some things about making a budget and all. they said that they had something that could help us with our budget, and wondered if they could stop by. we said yes. then our pastor, kendall, and his wife julie, stopped by unannounced right before brian and suzanne were supposed to arrive. coincidence? i think not. we were clueless as to what would unfold, and thought to ourselves, 'aren't we popular tonight'. brian and suzanne came in with a bucket, topped with balloons and filled with cards that said "we love isaac" on them. they proceeded to tell us that each card represented a financial donation towards isaac's medical debt. they then pulled out a magnadoodle with a number written on it that was the total amount raised for isaac. $11,000! at this point they revealed that they have been raising these funds for the past five months! it is in an account at our church ready to pay off the hundreds of medical bills incured over the past two and a half years with isaac. we are praising God as we sort out the hundreds of bills we have. i love my church! not because they gave us money, but because they loved our son, and us so much.
isaac's new skill
so earlier this week, isaac started jumping, and actually leaving the ground! he holds my hands and jumps, and then lifts his feet off the ground! i remember the doctors words, "i am not sure if he will ever learn to walk, or talk." ha! isaac is showing those doctors a few things. i have learned so much from that little guy.
a collision of pride and humility
so today at church jerry, one of our guitar players who is wicked awesome at guitar, one who has 50 years experience of guitar, one who has been inducted into the bluegrass hall of fame, asked me if we could get together to show him a few things on guitar sometime because i am really good. wow. that's all i can say to that.
i'm still here
i successfully started a safe fire in my backyard. it was great. dave cooley (bob the hippo) helped me, and it turned out great, no yellow smoke or explosions or singed hair to speak of.
