Isaac's "Sunshine Egg"

I have been doing this new recipe with eggs, you cut out a hole in the middle and in the frying pan you crack an egg in the middle. It is really good. Well anyways, we try to load Isaac's food up with calories, so we put cheese on it, then I got a bit creative and cut it into peices and made a sun out of it, and told him it was a sunshine egg. He sat and ate it calling it a "sunshine egg" the whole time, it was cute.

Mother Teresa

I am going to be reading Mother Teresa, In My Own Words, an autobiography of her life as soon as I am done with the three books I am reading now, but on the outside cover of the book is a quote that hit me hard today:

"If we were humble, nothing would change us--neither praise nor discouragement. If someone were to criticize us, we would not feel discouraged. If someone were to praise us, we would not feel proud." -Mother Teresa

Usually we think that pride is a sense of thinking lowly of yourself or thinking that you are dirt, but that I think is more of depression that humility. I think this quote brings it into perspective quite well. And I also realized that Wow, I am not humble at all. I am good at pretending that I am, but according to this quote, I am far from being humble. I still feel the discouragement and pride that comes with praise and criticism. I have so much to work on in my life, I am far from who I need to be.

Tough Week

One of our students was involved in a fatal car crash this week. The student is fine physically, but he lost a very good friend in the crash. It has hit the community here pretty hard. She was involved in so many things at school and had many friends and family members left behind who are devastated. Our pastor did the funeral, and I attended. He did a great job of relating and expressing pain with the attenders. He does about 100 funerals a year and it is one of his passions. Our prayers go out to the family and friends of this girl. News Story on the crash is here.

Great Picture

I love this picture of Kara and Nolan. the only thing that could make this picture more perfect is if Isaac was in it. This picture was taken while she stayed with her folks while I was on a church bike trip. I really missed her, but it was good feeling to miss her, kinda confusing and hard to explain.

Mazzy's Bath

Isaac was giving Mazzy a hose bath with really cold water. She didn't like it too much, but Isaac had a blast.

Tether Trampoline Ball

Christian invented this game of tether trampoline ball. No one got hurt, too bad. Lacie got hit in the foot and the ball wrapped around her leg a few times and hit her in the nose. but other than that it was good fun for the whole family.

Isaac loves tether ball

Isaac and I decided to play a little tether ball. It was fun. He kept laughing at the students playing tether ball so I decided that maybe we should try it too.

Isaac and the window

Isaac's new favorite pastime is climbing onto his toy chest and opening and closing the window. Its real cute.

8 days without Isaac

I went 8 days without seeing Isaac. I have never gone that long without seeing him before. It was hard, but he had a great time visiting his Nana and Papa and Grandma and Grandpa. I know that I missed him more than he missed me because after our cuddle on the car here, he said, "want to go to Grandma's house." It was cute. I got a good welcome home hug from him first though.

Binder Park Zoo

On our week off, we went to Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, the good ol Cereal Capital of the world. The zoo was okay, there was a lot of walking before you got to see any animals, but spending time with the Family was great.

Binder Park just put in a Africa Exhibit which is the same size as the original zoo. It was pretty cool. The best part was feeding the giraffes cookies. I think the zoo knew this was the best part as well because they charged 1$ a cookie. There were some people getting 20$ worth of cookies! I got 4$ and broke them into 8 pieces. Frugal I know.

Isaac was having so much fun feeding them I would have spent 20$ though. Their tongues were long and slimy. And Isaac tried to kiss one of them. It was a very good day at the zoo.

I Am Back

It has been a long time since I put anything up, and I have a lot of catching up to do here. Rest assured I will get you all updated with some cool things that have happened. We had the Final annual Bike Trip that was 8 days long, and then we had a week "vacation" that we took after that. So I am back now, and will get some posts up here soon.
