Dearest Tom and Family, I happened upon your blog quite by happenstance, though I realize that something guided me here. I read about your family's loss of Elijah with great sadness. My husband and I lost twin boys when I was only at 21 weeks. One of the twins was known to have severe complications and wasn't expected to survive. The pregnancy itself was complicated by sub-corionic bleeding, and the amniotic sac of the twin in trouble ruptured a month before the twins were delivered. We had them for about an hour before we had to say goodbye. Do I believe God owed or owes me anything as a result of such a heartwrenching loss? I've probably thought that once, twice or a million times. But, I remind myself of what a friend from a cloistered order told me: Life is a tapestry. While we're on Earth, all we can see is the underside with all of it's colours, not completed, as well as the knots that hold it together. It is only when we make it to Heaven that we have a chance to see the beauty laid out before us, and we understand what God had in mind for us and our lives as they unfolded.
May you find the same comfort in praying to your angel as I do when I pray to our little ones.
