Guatemala: The People of Conalitos

The kids were a bit sad, distant, and weary when we started this project, but we started to recognize a change. They started to warm up and join in to the project and interact with us. They were laughing and painting and playing with us. We weren’t sure how much of that they get from a day-to-day basis, so we took breaks from our work to play and interact as much as possible, and even invite them to help us with the projects we were working on. They brought just as much joy to us as we were bringing to them. That is the great part of missions trips. Sure we can do some work and projects, but the relationships and interactions with people are what God uses to bring transformation and change. In the bible it is called the ecclesia, or the gathering of God’s people, or the church.
